What is Honse Farm?
Mare Synchronos let FF14 players share character customizations in real-time. When it shut down, people rushed to create replacement servers using Mare's open source code.
The problem? Every new "Mare fork" is its own isolated island. You can't sync with friends on a different fork. Friend groups get split up.
Each fork also starts adding their own features, making them even more incompatible. Instead of joining hands to build something together, the community keeps splitting into smaller and smaller pieces.
Honse Farm fixes this with federation. Many small servers work together as one network. You pick a server, but you can sync with everyone - no matter which server they chose. It forms community instead of splitting it.
Why should you use it?
- Sync with your friends regardless of which server they're on
- Pick a server you trust, or run your own for your FC
- The network can't be taken town - even if one or multiple servers go offline, the rest will keep working.
- Everything is open source and transparent
