What is Honse Farm?

Mare Synchronos let FF14 players share character customizations in real-time. When it shut down, people rushed to create replacement servers using Mare's open source code.

The problem? Every new "Mare fork" is its own isolated island. You can't sync with friends on a different fork. Friend groups get split up.

Each fork also starts adding their own features, making them even more incompatible. Instead of joining hands to build something together, the community keeps splitting into smaller and smaller pieces.

Honse Farm fixes this with federation. Many small servers work together as one network. You pick a server, but you can sync with everyone - no matter which server they chose. It forms community instead of splitting it.

Why should you use it?

  • Sync with your friends regardless of which server they're on
  • Pick a server you trust, or run your own for your FC
  • The network can't be taken town - even if one or multiple servers go offline, the rest will keep working.
  • Everything is open source and transparent

The Beta Period

We're running a public beta from December 10th through January 10th to stress-test the federation protocol before stable release.

During this month, we need your help to validate that the system works under real-world conditions: lots of players syncing at peak hours, venues running coordinated events, and the network staying stable when servers join or leave the federation.

This is also when we gather feedback on what features matter most. The core sync functionality is solid, but we want to know what the community actually needs before we lock in the v1.0 release.

How can you help?

  • Report any issues or feedback through our Discord or GitHub
  • Run your own federated mare server
  • Spread the word and tell your friends about the network and the service

What Happens Next

After the beta wraps up in January, our focus shifts to bringing the community together.

We're reaching out to the current large Mare fork operators to see if they'll join the federation. The goal isn't to replace them - it's to connect them. If the major servers federate, players won't have to choose anymore. Everyone can sync with everyone, regardless of which server they're connected to.

We're also working on spreading awareness so venue organizers and FC leaders know this option exists. The more servers that join the federation, the more resilient the whole network becomes.

Timeline

  • Q1 2026: Stable v1.0 release after beta feedback
  • Ongoing: Outreach to existing Mare fork operators
  • Future: Additional features based on community needs
  • Always: Open source development and transparent operations

Running Your Own Server

Yes, anyone can run a Honse Farm server. It takes about 10 minutes to set up.

Rent a basic VPS (virtual private server), run our installer, and you're done. You can run it privately for your FC or friend group, or make it public and join the federation. Either way, you have complete control over your data and who you trust.

The federated architecture means your server can still sync with the entire network. Your players connect to your server, but they can share customizations with players on any other federated server. You get independence without isolation.

The client plugin is handled by HonseFarm, so you only need to worry about running the server - your players just sit back and enjoy.

Getting Started

  • Check the server setup documentation for technical requirements
  • Basic VPS specs: 2GB RAM, 20GB storage, decent bandwidth
  • Installation takes under 10 minutes with our automated installer
  • Full documentation covers private vs public server configuration
